Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka on Tuesday, December 20 made an emotional return to his former club Borussia Monchengladbach to say his goodbyes.
Xhaka made a £35million move to Arsenal in the summer just before Euro 2016 and could not say his farewell as he had to resume pre-seasons with his new club.
He made a short trip to Germany on Tuesday to be with his friends and fans at the Bundesliga club.
The 24-year-old was presented to fans before kick-off of Gladbach’s midweek Bundesliga clash with Wolfsburg.
Wearing a white shirt with ‘thank you for four unforgettable years’ the midfielder waved to fans who ho sang his name.
Xhaka played for Gladbach between 2012 and 2016, going on to become one of their best players and a leader after a slow start.
It wasn’t all smiles at the games as Gladbach lost 2-1 defeat Wolfsburg.
Xhaka will fly back to London to prepare for Arsenal’s boxing day clash against West Brom.
