Depay On Fire As Netherlands Beat Luxembourg 3-1
Memphis Depay was the star of the moment as Netherlands beat minnows Luxembourg on Sunday in a World Cup qualifying match.
The Manchester United player came on as a substitute scoring a second-half brace for a 3-1 win in Luxembourg city.
Veteran Arjen Robben had put the Dutch ahead in the 36th, but 130th-ranked Luxembourg levelled on the stroke of half-time with a penalty from Maxime Chanot.
The visitors were without the influential Robben after the break as the Bayern Munich winger seemingly picked up yet another injury, a big loss given that Robben had scored five times in the four internationals.
But Depay, who replaced Wesley Snijder, then came on for the second half, headed the second in the 58th minute by heading home a cross fromDaley Blind.
The 22-year-old then came close again and eventually clinched victory with a curling free-kick with six minutes left.
