The Player of the Year award would round up an incredible year for the 31-year-old who won two European titles with Real Madrid (Champions League) and Portugal (Euro 2016).
The same week he was awarded the 2016 Ballon d’Or, Ronaldo also lifted the Club World Cup with Real Madrid and was also named Player of the Tournament.
In 2016, Ronaldo scored 55 goals in 57 games for Real Madrid and 13 goals for Portugal.
