Actor lost 40 pounds for religious drama “Silence”
Andrew Garfield lost 40 pounds for his role in Martin Scorsese's religious movie, "Silence."
For his role in Martin Scorsese’s religious drama "Silence," Andrew Garfield lost a lot of weight.
In an interview with E! the 2017 Oscar-contender revealed that he lost 40 pounds for his role as Sebastião Rodrigues in the movie.
"It’s not fun," Garfield says. "But ultimately it’s very very satisfying and fulfilling. You learn a lot of information from emptying out."
The anticipated movie which screened at the Vatican stars Garfield alongside Liam Neeson and Adam Driver.
The movie also stars Tadanobu Asano, Issey Ogata, Ciaran Hinds, Yosuke Kubozuka, and Yoshi Oida.
Screenplay by Scorsese and Jay Cocks, the movie is based on the book "Silence" by Shusaku Endo, and is produced by Scorsese, Emma Tillinger Koskoff, Randall Emmett, Barbara Defina, Vittorio Cecchi Gori, and Irwin Winkler.
